Therapy for adults and teens in Nashville, TN.

I believe that everyone deserves support and guidance as they navigate the complex experiences that come with being human.

I’m Marissa

When a plant isn’t thriving in the garden, we don’t blame the plant. We test the soil. We monitor the sunlight. We adjust the water. We work to enhance the environment so the plant can thrive.

Fundamental

Principles

  • In Greek mythology, "Psyche" symbolizes the soul or self and represents the essence of one's inner being. In the context of mental health, the soul or self is comprised of one's thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and experiences. I honor the complexity of being human and understand that each individual’s psyche is uniquely shaped by personal histories, aspirations, and challenges.

  • Many individuals may feel fragmented, unfulfilled, or out of alignment with their core values, true potential, or knowledge. For example, you may value physical health and know that going for a walk daily could benefit your mood, yet you can't seem to get off the couch. A cornerstone of my approach is the concept of bridging the gap between one’s current self and their most authentic self. We bridge this gap through psychoeducation, introspection, evidence-based treatment methods, and the therapeutic relationship.

  • Central to my practice is a therapeutic relationship built on a foundation of empathy, authenticity, communication, and respect. Together, we will co-create a safe and trusting space where you feel heard, valued, and supported.

  • In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel disconnected from your own body, as though you’re operating on autopilot rather than truly connecting with yourself - and others. The mind-body connection means that mental health issues, such as stress, anxiety, or depression, can manifest physically as symptoms like headaches, fatigue, or chronic pain. Conversely, physical health problems can lead to mental health challenges, including feelings of frustration or low self-esteem. Integrating mental and physical health in therapy honors the profound connection between mind and body, leading to more effective treatment and lasting results.
